Why is equilibrium rated r

This film rocked! I have seen a lot of dirty trash on the TV and big screen that I would not dare let a kid see, but this one I think is fit for teenagers on up.

There is some mild violence, but nothing that you cannot see on a family night viewing of the network channels. This is a must see movie! Christian Bale does an excellent and convincing job as the central character.

The movie is violent but not in a gory way… the use of blood is minimal. The content, setting, themes, messages and unique action make the movie a good one! Positive —My favorite movie of the year, and arguably of all time. An incredible combination of deep character development and extreme action makes for a strong combination that should be enjoyed by any sci-fi fan with a taste for an intellectual storyline.

Christian Bale could easily take Keanu Reeves any day. A definite must see. In one sequence, The main character graphically snaps a mans leg then graphically snaps his arm seconds later. Seconds after this, he beats a group of soldiers to death with spiked pistol handles, smashing the visors on their helmets and sometimes blood sprays out.

Lots of other people are shot in the head and body throughout the movie with occasional blood spray. Its pretty quick but blood sprays out when he cuts people. Finally, he cuts a guys face off. Overall, this movie has a lot of fighting and tons of people die but there isn't too much blood. I would highly recommend this movie to action fans as its is a really really good action movie. Teen, 13 years old Written by Coolpool February 9, This film is one of those milder R rated films.

Lots of similarities to the Matrix. Lots of gun fights along with Kung-Fu and sword fights. It's about a 3rd world war breaks out, and one man takes control, creating a drug that suppress emotions, and leads police force's to execute and kill those who don't take it, and destroy anything that would bring back those feelings Painting, pets, snow globes, music, etc.

But the lead officer runs out of the drug, and learns what it's like to have feelings, and leads a rebellion, secretly.

The first minutes or so is all gun fights, no blood. The gun fights is basically Kung-Fu while using guns. The last battle scene involves sword fighting, and resolves in people getting slit across the neck, chest, and other "Kill-Spots," with a small flash of blood shown before they fall dead. A man gets his face cut off, no blood, and is shown from the side So you don't see the area where his face was , and looks computer generated.

A man is killed with a gun for revenge for the woman the killer was in love with. A woman is cremated alive as an execution, it only shows her face through a window and then a flash of flames to show that she died, they make this scene very dramatic. The dog execution scene may upset animal lovers Don't worry, the dogs are avenged.

They're two brutal arm-breaking scenes, one in a flash back, and another in the present of the film. An entire S. Team is shot and killed when a man protects a puppy he saved from the execution. The same man beats another S. Team to death with the butt's of his guns, this is some-what brutal. The only drug used is the made-up drug that suppress feelings. Not many sexual themes, but a woman is interrogated by the same man over and over and they fall in love.

The worse swear words used are 2 F-Bombs. The rest are mild, 2 usages of [email protected] , five of hell, and one usage of piss and crap. Teen, 15 years old Written by Spencer15 June 29, Equilibrium Equilibrium was not bloody at all I do not see why it was rated R, I loved this movie, the best thing about it was the amazing fighting scenes which made my jaw open. The guy really has some cool moves! Teen, 14 years old Written by Irdray October 8, Very violent.

I found this movie went more into the graphics of shooting and killing than it did into the plot. At some parts the plot made no sense at all. The language isn't too bad, only one swear word, and hardly any blood except at one of the end scenes the main character goes in with a white suit and leaves with a red one.

There is a lot of close combat, shooting, and bone snapping. I think the most violent scene was right at the end when one of the guy's faces actually get cut off and slides to the floor.

This title contains: Positive role models. Teen, 13 years old Written by Hightech Redneck July 19, This shouldn't be rated R, should be PG This movie is action packed!

Great story. The acting is amazing. The CGI is average. This movie is VERY violent! In discussions with children these could easily be drawn out, but the film itself descends into a predictable and formulaic shoot-em-up sci-fi action movie. The ninja-based gun fighting style used by the clerics verges on the balletic, but for any admirer of this film genre, they will have witnessed almost identical scenes in The Matrix.

Families can talk about how Preston, emotion and beauty win over the dour, controlling Librian state, yet rather than straightforward tales of good over evil, the film leads one to question these opposing concepts.

Peace is surely good, but in this case evil derives from an all-consuming quest for peace, which itself breeds violence. Familes can also talk about how the importance of love, loyalty and joy abound in this film, but glory is associated with violence and destruction.
