How long do 2006 acura tl last

The Acura TL transmission has had its share of problems throughout the years beginning with the model and going through to the model. In , the Acura TL had a widespread defect within the transmission that meant complete transmission failure at around , miles. The same problem occurred in , , , and , but with each year it began occurring at an earlier amount of mileage.

They buy a new car to replace the ride way before the milage adds up to that point. However, this means the danger is problematic for used car owners. Used car shoppers often get excited to see a once-hyped car available for a steal. The problem is that these great prices and deals often reveal that the car will be a lemon. Causes of the loss of forward gears ranged from a faulty solenoid to a torque converter issues.

If you towed heavy loads, drove in stop-and-go traffic, or drove on mountainous terrain, overheating occurred when the transmission created more friction than the automatic transmission fluid could remove. This could cause a whole slew of problems both in the moment and down the line. Another common issue was the loss of 4 th gear or reverse caused by design flaws in the valve and channel plate. How is the car going to make it out of the subdivision without fourth gear? In addition to transmission issues, the car excessively consumed oil.

Owners were putting two to three quarts of oil into the vehicle between oil changes and some even had the engine die. In addition, the Acura TL also had defective brake rotors that caused the front wheels to vibrate. The model also had the airbag sensor turn on at about 50, miles. Imagine spending all that money on a car to have problems with the brake rotors, transmission, and engine failure. The Acura TL transmission is notoriously faulty and, as you can guess, the vehicle itself has several recalls related to the transmission.

The Acura TL was recalled because, in certain operating conditions, heat built up between the countershaft and secondary shaft gears in the automatic transmission that lead to gear tooth chipping or breakage.

If the gear failed it would result in transmission lockup which could lead to a crash injury, property damage, car loss, etc. The Acura TL was recalled because a transmission case bolt could fall out allowing the transmission to disengage. This meant the vehicle lost power to the drive wheels without warning.

Also, shifting into park would not lock the wheels and a parked vehicle could move unexpectedly. If you are the current owner of an Acura TL or interested in purchasing one, you can call your local Honda dealership, and with the vehicle identification number, check on any outstanding recalls the car needs. Sometimes vehicle manufacturers issue technical service bulletins TSB and three were issued related to the Acura TL transmission.

I like Acura. I bought TL-S in June with K miles logged, which is running excellent except for requiring regular maintenance. It has already logged K miles with no major problem. My Acura mechanics, however, suggested me to change timing belt, transmission oil and spark plugs to be on safe side and make sure that it remains dependable as ever, which I did.

I am prepared to test its endurance for another 50K miles, which is just half of extra mile what the mechanics has assured me of it to go without any trouble. I have a TL with a , and still going strong. Replacing the head lights was a bigger expense and labor intense than expected. Now I am looking for a set of good tires to put on it. Any suggestions? Love my car and hope to keep it for another K. Artem answered 2 years ago.

Hey, Robin. How is your car doing? I'm looking to buy TL and I just found tl auto transmission with k miles on it and transmission was replaced "a month ago" as seller said. Should I even bother seeing it? I am concerned about its reliability in general and transmission with suspension particularly I had Accord coupe V6 6speed and after k miles I started having serious problems with engine mounts, suspension Especially with shocks and CV axles.

GuruC1VPT answered 2 years ago. I have RDX k it runs pretty well. Hope it will last me another k. No major issues. Just Oil changes, filter changes, tires etc.. Doug answered 2 years ago. I am looking at a Acura TL. It has , miles on it. The timing belt was just changed and all the other things that go with the tune up?

It runs great and is a 1 owner. Any advice? GuruL8KK3 answered 2 years ago. My Acura 3. Replaced transmission and radiator at , and , miles. Second timing belt at , It has lately developed a leak that I intend to track down. My mechanic assured me that with proper care the car should make it to , miles. Hey Doug, I have a TL with , that still runs like it did when driven off the lot. It's primarily highway miles.

The key is going to be how well it's been maintained. Best of luck. GuruLJ9QB answered 2 years ago. I purchased a TL from a dealer that was 5 years old. It had 70, km. It is now with , and I still love my TL. Of all the cars that I have purchased in my life most used and off lease the TL has been the best!

Zero maintenance issues aside from regular maintenance. No other issues. Will definitely buy another one when I put my baby to rest. GuruLJQ83 answered 2 years ago. I have a Acura TL and it runs perfect!

I purchased used at 45K miles. I have had it for almost 4 years and mileage is now at K. The only thing I have had to do is to purchase a new battery. I consistently get oil changes on routine schedule. A fine car! I'm looking at my first TL tonight. Kinda late to the party but my accura TL 05 is at k and the only problems I've had with it are brakes, tires and oil changes. Best Answer I have a 05 acura tl and i have , miles and i only use 87 gas doesn't matter google it and synthetic oil and doing the brake fluid flush next week, it still runs strong still.

R answered 2 years ago. Old post, I know. I expect at least another K out of it. CarQs1 answered 2 years ago. I am looking to purchase a TLX with 39, miles. Not sure how well the prior owned cared for it there are scratch marks on the exterior, not sure if not taking care of the outside correlates with not taking care of the inside. What should I look for to make sure it's in good shape? It's certified pre-owned from Acura, but still nervous. I want something reliable that will last many years to come.

Thank you! Guru1CNVL answered 2 years ago. Loved and cared for it, only used Amsoil. Nothing you can do to maintain faulty parts though. The fit and finish of my TL built in Ohio was sub-par from day 1. Going to see if i have a better luck with a Lexus. Pay attention to the way your car drives.

Undue procrastination will almost certainly lead to higher repair bills down the road. Vacuuming the interior prevents dirt from acting as tiny knives to ruin fabrics. Still, even a meticulously maintained car or truck will need to visit the repair shop from time to time as the miles pile up. Batteries, tires and brake components, for example, wear out after only a few years.

For some models it might be more cost effective to replace the engine with a remanufactured unit than to keep swapping it out a part at a time. While nobody likes to shell out cash each year for needed repairs, it's still usually cheaper to keep a car running than it is to make payments on a new model.
